The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has been awarded the AI Ethics Seal by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) for its “Nusuk AI” service. This recognition comes in appreciation of the Ministry’s commitment to implementing artificial intelligence ethics principles, enhancing governance, and fostering the responsible and reliable use of modern technologies as part of its ongoing efforts to develop digital services provided to pilgrims, in alignment with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 and the Pilgrim Experience Program.

The AI Ethics Seal is awarded to public and private sector organizations to encourage adherence to AI ethical standards. It aims to raise awareness and promote the responsible utilization of AI products, guide them toward optimal applications, and incentivize mature practices related to the development of AI systems across the products and services delivered by these entities.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah explained that the “Nusuk AI” service serves as one of the smart solutions within the Nusuk application. It provides a digital assistant that answers pilgrims’ inquiries, guides them to appropriate services, and delivers relevant information regarding Hajj, Umrah, and visitation. Additionally, it addresses Islamic rulings based on official sources and a knowledge base built around the most frequently asked questions and official fatwas. Supporting over 180 languages along with voice interaction features, the service has benefited more than 320,000 users since its launch, with total interactions exceeding 1 million—including over 475,000 questions and answers in the past month alone, reflecting a growing reliance on smart solutions for accessing information and services.

The Ministry stated that it aims for “Nusuk AI” to become the primary digital companion for pilgrims and Muslims worldwide. It operates within the broader Nusuk digital app ecosystem, which features over 130 services, supports more than 20 languages, and serves over 51 million users across 190 countries, facilitating the pilgrims’ journey and enhancing accessibility to digital services at every stage.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah reaffirmed its commitment to continuously developing its digital ecosystem, expanding the deployment of advanced technologies in line with national best practices, boosting digital service efficiency, and creating smart solutions that elevate the pilgrim experience in support of digital transformation targets within the Hajj and Umrah sector and Saudi Vision 2030.
